What is Heaven? The Bible Speaks Of More Than One!

So I am sure many Christians and unbelievers ran to this article to see what exactly does she mean when she says it is more than one heaven described in the bible.  I'm sure they were ready to throw the bible at me but I promise to give you nothing more than the revelation of the scriptures as they are written. I will show you proof of the word "heaven" being used in multiple occasions in the scripture just so you can gain some understanding when I speak of it being more than one heaven.

The Bible speaks of three heavens. The first being our immediate atmosphere, the second is outer space as far as it stretches, and the third is the place where God himself dwells. What Jesus called the “Father's house.”

Let us first define "heaven".
Dictionary defines it as "A place regarded in various religions as the abode of God (or the gods) and the angels, and of the good after death, often traditionally depicted as being above the sky." & "the sky, especially perceived as a vault in which the sun, moon, stars, and planets are situated."

Okay so now you have the definition of "heaven".

Now let us began with the "First Heaven" described at the beginning as written by Moses in the Book of Genesis. Known as the Earth's Atmosphere, in other words "The Sky".

Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created "the heaven" and the earth.

Okay so if there is only one heaven then where was God residing at when he created this other heaven as described?!

Good question. Now let's continue.

Gen 1:14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night.” The "first heaven" consists of the clouds and the atmosphere, the heavens above us, until we come to the stars. So the first heaven being described is the sky. We recall that from the scripture in the book of Psalms.
Psalms 78: 23-23 “Yet He had commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven, had rained down manna on them to eat, and given them of the bread of heaven.”

The expression doors of heaven or windows of heaven involved the firmament, our atmosphere. Descriptions used of this heaven is from where God would provide food or rain.

(Genesis 7:11-12): “The windows of "heaven" were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.” Genesis 8:2: “The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained”

Malachi 3:10 Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.” In reference to an abundant harvest of crops.

(Deuteronomy 11:17 “Then the LORD's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce....” Deuteronomy 28:12: “The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.”

So the sky is the first heaven. Where does rain come from? The sky right? Okay.

Moving along.

The "Second Heaven" is Outer Space.
It is the heavens in which the sun, moon, and stars are fixed in orbit. What we call again space.

(Psalm 19:4,6) - “In the "heavens" he has pitched a tent for the sun... It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other;...” (Jeremiah 8:2) - They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens which they have loved and served."

Now The Third Heaven.

This is where God and the holy angels and  we will reside which is called “The heaven of heavens,” (Deuteronomy 10:14)
(1Kings 8:27) - “The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you.”

(Heb 4:14) “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens...."

Heavens is plural not singular in that scripture.

At first I too was thinking that upon researching this subject that the individual had lost their mind. I said there is only one heaven and that is where we will go when we die.
No the bible speaks very obvious of the sky being a heaven, and outer space being a heaven, and then of course the place where God and his angels reside.

I give thanks to these references being broken down from Let Us Reason Ministries.

I am awakened to learning more of the word. I believe we read the word but we overlook a lot of information that is being placed so vividly before our eyes. This is why we were told to "study" the scriptures. (John 5:9)

I hope many of you as I have done will go back and observe the word of God more closely and take your time while reading so that you gain understanding. More importantly pray & fast for revelation from God. It is amazing what we can learn from God's word when we study together.
